Singapore Design Biennale 2027

Singapore · May 14–Jun 20, 2027 · SIN

Culture & DesignDates confirmedMultiple venues across Singapore; final venue list pending

Singapore’s annual design celebration is taking a larger, slower form. From May 14 to June 20, 2027, the inaugural Singapore Design Biennale will bring design, architecture, art, research, and technology into venues around the city. Its theme, “1.35°N,” takes Singapore’s approximate latitude as a point of departure. The full programme, venues, and ticketing are still being developed, so bookmark the dates and plan in detail once the city map appears.

Who should cross for this

Designers, architects, artists, researchers, technologists, students, and design-curious visitors.

The government-backed biennale positions Singapore as a regional meeting point for design practice and exchange across Asia and international creative industries.

Suggested trip length: 4 nights once the venue programme is published

A biennale built around place

The DesignSingapore Council is inviting local and international designers, architects, artists, researchers, technologists, and interdisciplinary practitioners to propose exhibitions, installations, workshops, performances, talks, and studio visits. Those formats describe the open call rather than a finished schedule, but they show the project’s breadth. The organizer also plans commissions, district activations, and regional collaborations.

The longer format succeeds Singapore Design Week, whose 2025 edition recorded more than 400,000 visits over 11 days. The biennale gives projects more time to develop and visitors more freedom to choose a few districts.

Planning a design-focused stay

No 2027 venues have been confirmed. Photographs of the National Design Centre, Millenia Walk, and *SCAPE on current pages document earlier events and should not be read as venue announcements. Until the map is published, Bras Basah.Bugis makes an appealing base for its museums, libraries, and creative institutions; City Hall and Marina Bay provide strong connections across the center.

May and June are hot and humid. Afternoon thunderstorms are common during the inter-monsoon period, and the Southwest Monsoon typically begins around late May. Group nearby events and leave time for rain.

What to watch for

The programme-partner and venue-host call closes August 12, 2026, with notifications expected by early October. Public programme announcements should follow later. Recheck the official site for districts, participants, daily hours, admission, registration, and accessibility before booking around a particular project.
