Taipei Marathon returns Sunday, December 20, 2026, with 28,000 places across the full and half marathon. The marathon begins at 06:30 and the half at 07:00 from Citizen Plaza in front of Taipei City Hall. The World Athletics Gold Label and AIMS-certified course moves through central streets and riverside sections before finishing near Taipei Arena—inside Taipei Stadium for the full and on Nanjing East Road for the half.
Who should cross for this
Marathon and half-marathon runners, wheelchair athletes, running clubs, supporters and destination-race travelers.
AIMS/World Athletics certification gives results international value, including for North American race qualification, while TPE makes Taipei a practical destination race.
Suggested trip length: 4–5 days
Understand the entry windows
Standard entry costs NT$2,200 for the marathon and NT$1,600 for the half. General places use separate lotteries: the full-marathon window closed July 15, while half registration runs July 27–August 10. Qualified, visually impaired and wheelchair athletes follow separate procedures. A 1,000-place guaranteed Gold Label marathon product costs NT$9,999. Never buy or accept a transferred bib; entries are personal and non-transferable.
Stay for the start, plan for the finish
Xinyi is the calmest race-morning choice because marathon baggage opens at 04:30 and full runners assemble at 06:00. Normal Sunday metro hours may be too late, so wait for the special transport notice before relying on rail. After racing, full-marathon baggage is inside Taipei Stadium; half-marathon collection is near Taipei Arena. Supporters should use the final road-closure and crossing map rather than trying to follow by taxi.
Arrive before packet day
The 2026 packet pickup venue and hours have not been announced. Last year offered pre-race expo collection or domestic delivery and no race-day pickup, making a late Saturday arrival risky if that system returns. A four- or five-night stay provides time to collect materials, adjust after a Pacific flight and recover. Recent fields have been deeply international, and the certified result can support applications to recognized races abroad, including qualifying events in North America.
