Two days, clear distance split

Saturday, October 3, carried IHH 10km waves from 6:00 a.m., a 5km Fun Run around 7:45 a.m., and Kids Dash distances mid-morning—all at Dataran Merdeka. Sunday, October 4, held the full marathon at 3:30 a.m. and the ASICS Half Marathon at 4:45 a.m., with awards later Sunday morning on the square.

Entry windows closed faster than flights

Public registration for Malaysian residents sold out within hours of the March 2026 open. International slots ran through 31 July 2026 or until the international allocation filled. Run For A Reason charity and corporate pathways were alternate doors when open. Non-refundable long-haul only made sense after category confirmation.

Sleep near Merdeka, not past midnight traffic

A full-marathon flag-off before dawn rewarded hotels in the historic core or a short ride to it. October humidity and heat shaped pacing even before sunrise. One race morning paired better with ordinary KL food and museum days than stacking every Petronas Tower stop into the same weekend as bib collection.
