Busan Biennale 2026 is open through Sunday, November 1, under the theme Dissident Chorus, co-directed by Evelyn Simons and Amal Khalaf. It spreads across Busan Museum of Contemporary Art, Space OneZ, and the Former Busan Nam High School—long enough that you can still build a quiet art stay after the mid-October film crowds ease. Hours are Tuesday–Sunday 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with last entry at 5:00 p.m. for MoCA and the school and 5:30 p.m. for Space OneZ. Mondays are closed.
Who should cross for this
Contemporary art travelers, curators, students, and Pacific visitors pairing a Busan culture stay with film or coastal plans.
A major East Asian contemporary art biennale in Busan that draws international artists and Pacific travelers into MoCA and Yeongdo venues through early November.
Suggested trip length: 3–4 nights to cover MoCA plus both Yeongdo venues without rushing the free shuttle
Pay for MoCA; keep Yeongdo free
Adult MoCA admission is ₩16,000, with lower youth, military, and child tiers, plus discounts for seniors and disability cardholders. A two- or three-visit pass helps if you want to split MoCA across days. Space OneZ and the former Nam High School are free—easy second-day walking after a dense MoCA morning.
If you booked online, swap the reservation number for a paper ticket at the MoCA desk. Docent tours run Tuesday–Sunday for ticket holders on a first-come basis.
Take the free shuttle to Yeongdo
A free shuttle links MoCA, Space OneZ, and Former Busan Nam High School on open days. MoCA departures are listed at 11:00, 14:00, and 16:30; wait outside the school’s main gate for pickup rather than hunting a taxi across the island.
A reserved Art Bus with guided commentary is also listed for Saturday, October 17—check remaining seats if you want commentary instead of the free hop.
Separate film week from art days
BIFF and its market fill early-to-mid October around Centum and Haeundae. The biennale keeps going after those nights end, so finish the screenings first, then give MoCA and Yeongdo two quieter days. Pick lodging for the half of Busan you will actually walk—Haeundae for film geography, Yeongdo-adjacent if the free venues are the point.
Closed Mondays (and Tuesday, October 6, on the published calendar) are easy to miss when you are stitching a film-and-art itinerary. Build the gap into the hotel nights before you buy nonrefundable tickets.
