Gwangbok-ro Winter Light Festival 2026

Busan · Dec 4–Jan 31, 2027 · PUS

Culture & DesignDates confirmedGwangbok-ro, Gwangbokjungang-ro, and Sanbok-ro area, Jung-gu

The Jung-gu District Office’s tourism calendar lists the 2026 Gwangbok-ro Winter Light Tree Festival and Sanbok Sky Light Street (2026 광복로 겨울빛 트리축제 & 산복하늘 빛의 거리) as running December 2026 through January 2027, along Gwangbok-ro, Gwangbokjungang-ro, and the Sanbok hillside road. The district’s page gives only that month window. A national festival dataset points to December 4 through January 31, so those dates are a strong lead and not a final announcement. Recheck bsjunggu.go.kr before you book anything nonrefundable.

Who should cross for this

Winter visitors in Busan, couples, families, and shoppers who want a free evening near Nampo, Lotte Department Store, and BIFF Square.

A free, walkable light route in Busan’s old downtown, helpful for travelers who are in town after G-STAR or the December race weekend and want something low-cost.

Suggested trip length: One evening inside a 2–3 night Busan stay

Know what is firm and what is not

The district confirms the months and the streets. It does not give an opening night or hours on the page we checked. The December 4 start and January 31 end come from the national listing and Jung-gu tourism entries.

That is enough to plan a December or January evening, but not enough to hold a hotel around a specific lighting ceremony. If a date matters, ask the district tourism desk or check its calendar closer to travel.

Walk the flat streets first

Gwangbok-ro is Busan’s old fashion street, a short stroll from Nampo, Lotte Department Store, and BIFF Square. It suits a slow evening with dinner or street food on either end.

The lights go on after dark in winter, so there is no reason to arrive before 5:30 p.m. Dress warmly, because the wind off the harbor cuts down these streets.

Add the hillside only if you have the energy

The Sanbok Sky Light Street part of the program sits on the hillside road above the old districts. Expect steep roads, and plan to take a taxi or bus up rather than walk.

It is a good second-night stop for visitors who want view-heavy photographs. If you are short on time, the Gwangbok-ro streets deliver the main event.
