PETRONAS Malaysia Open 2027

Who should cross for this

Badminton fans, players and coaches, and Pacific sports travelers building a Kuala Lumpur trip around top-level singles and doubles.

A top-tier BWF event in Southeast Asia in January, drawing champions from Korea, China, Japan, Indonesia, and Denmark to one city.

Suggested trip length: 4–6 nights for quarterfinal day through finals

Plan around the longer window

BWF’s calendar context for 2027 has Super 1000 events spread over a longer period, with matches played as the best of three games to 15 points. Check the BWF draw page for the match schedule, because the full format may change how many courts run at once.

The early rounds are the best-value days for watching several matches in a single session. The weekend finals are the biggest tickets.

Confirm the venue before booking a hotel

Recent Malaysia Open editions have been played at Unifi Arena in the Bukit Jalil sports complex. The BWF page did not lock the 2027 venue when we checked, so confirm the hall before booking anything nonrefundable.

If it is Bukit Jalil, the area is a trip out from the Petronas Towers. Plan transfer time for evening sessions rather than pairing them with a tight dinner.

Wait for official tickets

Tickets have typically come through local promoters nearer the date. No prices were published on the BWF page, so we have none to quote.

If you are flying from abroad, aim for the weekend and watch the BWF and Badminton Association of Malaysia channels for the sales link. Resale listings are a risk.
